– About –
The Penang Green Carnival is back for another weekend of exciting games, performance, and fun learning. It is an annual event by the Penang Green Council. Every year, the event will focus on a particular theme with the aim to create public awareness on the topic through enlightening and fun activities.
Theme: Penang My Green Home
The thematic routes we are leading this year aspire to foster a culture of sustainability and green solutions with a lesser impact on our ecosystem. To have a quality and healthier living environment, we should start with us—our lifestyle, our home. Together, we should join in and make this world a better place, one home at a time. We have prepared a ton of fun new attractions for this year’s event. Don’t just hear it from us. Come on over and check out the event for yourself. We hope to see you there!
We aim to inspire changes in the way we do things through innovative ideas, technologies and practices.
We aspire to deliver an evocative message about our environmental issues through exciting games and inspiring education.
We want to create values for families and businesses while embarking the necessary changes and green practices.
Have you thought of running out of power to illuminate your light bulbs or heat your water; running out of clean water to drink; or suffering from hazardous chemical spillage from home products ever crossed your mind?
Green effort is nothing new for us. However, we have so focus on the famous three Rs—Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. — for so long that we’ve missed the bigger picture —Sustainable Living.
As the Earth’s natural resources deplete from excessive usage, we should instead ask ourselves,
“Are we using our natural resources efficiently?”
Everything Starts From Home - Build Your Green Home Today!
Penang My Green Home will attempt to answer this question with the motivation on developing, designing, and maintaining a green home and lifestyle.
Our actions and habits will affect our health and livelihood. Every effort we make, every step we take affects the long-term health of our ecosystems that bring bountiful supplies of natural resources.
We should put our heads and hands together to create a better life for ourselves and for generations to come.
It may seem like a big leap for you, so let’s just start small, one step at a time.
Let’s start from our home, Penang.
Energy production has always been the highest consumption of Earth's natural resources. It is required for constructions and designs of your home, and especially, when living in your home. This route will focus on the solutions to use less energy for buildings and services in your home.
Liquid is the essence of life. Freshwater is scarce on Earth while accessibility to freshwater is low in certain part of the world. Without sustainable ways of reducing wastage, we are doom to run out of clean water very soon. We need to learn ways to reduce water wastage in our home.
Do you experience unusually hot weather in recent years? Have you heard of news about extreme climates around the world? Greenhouse gas (GHG) emission is the primary contributor to global climate change. Learn about lifestyle shifts to generate less carbon footprint during the Carnival.
Is your home safe and healthy for living? This route primarily focuses on educating the public on how you can maintain the air quality, lighting, thermal conditions, and ergonomics in your home. You will get to appreciate a healthy home environment for the health and well being of your family.
This route centers on ways to maintain ecological balance in building spaces and its surroundings for healthier environment, individuals and communities. Sustainable sites focus on green opportunities for reducing negative impact your home has on the environment. The values can be implemented at any time, be it during construction and design process, or when living in your home for years. Sustainable living is a lifestyle adoption by individual or society to reduce the use of Earth's natural resources.
Eco-Innovation is a term coined to describe an overarching sustainability path in the development of products and processes. It focuses on applying innovative green ideas and environmentally friendly technology to obtain ecological improvements. Join in our activities and be aspired to make use of recyclable items or practice economical habits in your home.
Sustainable material and resources is a vital step in the green building process. Housing developers in Penang have been adopting the green building standards governed by the Green Building Index (GBI) organisation. This route will focus on techniques to minimize energy and impacts of extraction, processing, transport, maintenance, and disposal of building materials.
